This sorbet is very similar to the watermelon sorbet (click here for the recipe). Well, the story was pretty simple – I was hunting around for ideas, I thought of that watermelon sorbet, and thought “Hey, I could make that with other fruit, too!”. I used grapes, since we had a lot of those – but I had one problem: It was too thin. So I thought of a good fruit thickener – frozen strawberries! I added some, tasted it, and I knew right then and there, that I made a sorbet that was well worth making.
For a decoration, I froze some sliced grapes in a plastic bag, not worrying too much about them sticking together. When they were frozen, I added it on top. It was very pretty!
I also added some bananas, but I’m not adding them to this recipe, since I felt it overpowered the whole dish, but if you like that banana flavor, add one or two frozen banana chunks.
Ingredients
2 cups of fresh grapes (not frozen)
1/2 lemon/lime (1 tbsp or so)
3 frozen strawberries (if this doesn’t turn it into a slush, add some more)
Instructions
- Puree fruit in a blender until it is smooth, with no chunks
- Pour the mixture into a freezer safe container (I used a plastic container) and freeze until solid, around 3-4 hours (you can test this by touching the center, tipping the container, etc.)
- Allow to thaw for a few minutes before serving (Unless you are making a “Sorbet Snow”, see the Watermelon Sorbet recipe for details)
- Enjoy!
Makes approximately 2 servings
